Common Washing Machine Faults

!±8± Common Washing Machine Faults

When you buy a washing machine you want to know that it is going to last a long time. You don't want to spend hundreds on a new one every two or three years so the life time of a machine is a big factor when choosing. Most washing machine lifespans are around 4-8 years according to those who make them - but this varies largely on how you maintain yours.

One of the most common faults of a washing machine occurs when the user repeatedly overloads it. This causes much more wearing of the machine than it should have in normal use and hence decreases the life span considerably - which is obviously not what you want!

Another common fault is leaking of the machine. With the amount of water pumped through a washing machine in its lifetime being huge, it is not surprise that they sometimes spring a leak! Most leaks can be fixed fairly quickly by a professional but if left unattended then they can cause more serious problems.

Like any other household object that gets a lot of use the washing machine needs to be properly looked after if it is going to last a long time without breaking down or becoming completely unusable. Things like overloading and leaks you can look out for, but there are other more complicated reasons a machine can break that aren't so easy to spot or fix, so make sure you buy from a reputable brand in the first place that has a long history of providing good quality washing machines.
